Look at the results that just a few of our members have allowed us to
post on our website. These are the actual testimonials of our
members, we have not embellished or changed any of their words.
Lynsey Prorok
It all started back in the summer of 2002 when my mother,
who struggles with her weight, called to share with me the success she had as a
CURVES member. It all sounded a little corny to me, jumping
around in a circle with a group of women, but what could it hurt? They only required you to exercise 3x a week
for 30 minutes a day, I could handle that, so I thought!
My first year was a success. I began to eat right and CURVES-it-out 3x a week. Then, for the nest 2 years I would go to the
mall, go out to eat, go to the tanning salon, all while on McKnight road
driving right past CURVES. Still paying my monthly fee hoping someday I
would get motivated to get back to my healthy lifestyle.
The holiday season of the year 2005 was my eye
opener. I was on my way out to a holiday
party, put on my best threads, bent down to put on my shoes and something got
in the way of me vending comfortably.
Low and behold, it was my STOMACH! There was not
more discussion about it. Right then and
there I decided I was too young to weigh this much and began to plan out my New
Years Resolution to eat right and exercise daily.
January 3, 2006 is
when I began to change my habits. It was the time to focus on
me. I began by eating a healthy, well-balanced
breakfast. I never ate breakfast! I never had time, or
thought I had the time.
Then came lunch!
What a problem there. I work
in a Correctional Facility where the
employees are fed the same food as the individuals housed there. Starch, starch, and more starch. I would just look at what they were serving
for lunch and gain a few pounds. I began
preparing a healthy lunch the night before which I found worked for me as
opposed to trying to rush around in the morning.
In the evening, I come home from work, immediately change
my clothes, and head right to CURVES. I work out about 4-5x a week, and
I SWEAT. When I don’t attend CURVES, I do some other form of a
thirty-minute work out whether it be walking or doing an aerobic tape. My hard work has paid off losing 49.5 lbs and
40 inches since January 3, 2006
Of course, my weight loss has not been as easy as these
few paragraphs make it sound. I have
changed my life completely from a.m. to p.m. including a journal of my daily
food and physical activities.
